Our Beliefs
- Health equity means access to affordable, appropriate, quality health care for all people.
- Individuals and communities cannot protect or advocate for their health without consistent and ongoing access to quality health information.
- How we answer the question of health equity across the U.S. will help determine the future of our country.
Our Mission
- The Lab works to engage with residents, journalists, decision makers, and stakeholders around impactful reporting that serves all communities.
- The Lab reports on health policies, practices, and initiatives that impact health equity. Our stories reveal dangers to health and barriers to health-care access, particularly those that affect people disproportionately.
- The Lab operates as a network of local newsrooms to increase reporting capacity and distribution, share resources and expertise, and provide training to journalists.
- Whenever possible, The Lab delivers news to communities in the languages that will serve those most impacted.
